Estyn Inspection – A Celebration of Our School!

We are delighted to share the outcome of our recent Estyn inspection, which recognises Knelston Primary as a warm, welcoming and inclusive school community. The report highlights excellent relationships, positive behaviour, and high levels of care and support that enable pupils to thrive both academically and personally.

We are especially proud to have been awarded two Estyn Spotlights, recognising highly effective practice across Wales:

• Oracy – Purposeful modelling, high‑quality questioning, drama and role‑play enable pupils to speak confidently, share ideas clearly, and listen thoughtfully.

• Mathematics – Flexible groupings through Knelston Nests and targeted support ensure strong progress, confident learners, and positive attitudes to challenge.​

The report also praises strong progress in reading and writing, outstanding provision for additional learning needs, and clear, effective leadership and governance. We received one recommendation only, focused on further developing independent learning opportunities.
